Breitachklamm Gorge
Very close to Oberstdorf lies the Breitachklamm gorge, an impressive natural spectacle that you should not miss out on when spending your holidays in the Allgäu. Over 100 years ago, the hiking trail through the narrow gorge was opened right next to the raging water. In some places, the stone walls rise up to 100 m above you, virtually swallowing the daylight. From January to March, torchlight hikes are a special highlight of an active holiday in Southern Germany.

Kempten
Kempten is the next larger town near Immenstadt and can also be easily reached by bus and train. Numerous historical buildings adorn the town centre. A trip to Kempten during your holiday is worth your while at any time. The town hall, the basilica and the Bäckerstraße are the highlights of a trip to the old town. The Cambodnum Archaeological Park, which is dedicated to the Roman origins of Kempten, is not only worth seeing, but also educational.

Lindau and Lake Constance
A little further away, but also easily accessible by bus and train on holiday in the Allgäu, is Lindau. The picturesque island town of Lindau, on the shores of Lake Constance, invites you to take a stroll through the old town and go shopping, or to take a wonderful boat trip on Lake Constance.

Neuschwanstein Castle in Füssen
Not only romantics will be thrilled by a visit to Neuschwanstein Castle in Füssen.
