Adventurous Hiking Holidays in the Allgäu

Step by step through Nature when Spending Active Holidays in Bavaria

Enjoy nature on a hiking holiday in the Allgäu. Almost 200 km of hiking trails are available in Immenstadt. During an active holiday in Bavaria, easy to challenging tours lure you up into the mountains and reward you with fantastic views and incomparable natural panoramas. We appreciate the feeling of freedom, of being unattached and the closeness to nature just as much as our guests – we like to be out and about in the Allgäu nature ourselves and enjoy the time outdoors. In our lounge you will therefore find tour suggestions for hiking during your active holiday in Bavaria. Then it's off to the mountains around our 5*Alpsee Camp Site!

Let us present three of our favourite tours here:

Around Lake Kleiner Alpsee

approx. 4km | Difficulty level: easy

The starting point of this tour on a hiking holiday in the Allgäu is our 5* Alpsee Camp Site. This circular trail is mostly asphalted and thus suited for prams.

On your active holiday in Bavaria, walk along the lakeside promenade in the direction of Bühl harbour. Cross the main road and you will reach the so-called Badeweg. This narrow, asphalted foot and cycle path leads along the Aach to the Viehmarktplatz in Immenstadt. Cross the railway tracks when approaching Lake Kleiner Alpsee and walk past the tennis courts. After a few hundred metres the road forks off to the left. Follow this gravelled path and cross a bridge with a wonderful view over Kleiner Alpsee towards Bühl. After a short climb, follow the service road till you reach the open-air swimming pool on the left. From the outdoor swimming pool, a foot and cycle path takes you back towards Bühl.

Panoramic Hike to the Siedelalpe

approx. 10 km | Difficulty level: medium

This sun-spoilt panoramic hike offers great views over the Alpsee and into the Allgäu Alps. It is also suited for families and can be shortened or extended as desired.

From the camp site, walk along the lake promenade to the Hauser lido. From here, a gravelled path leads you steeply towards Zaumberg. In the village, the trail continues in a westerly direction, always slightly uphill, to the Siedelalpe. There you can expect a savoury snack, cool refreshments and relaxation with a wonderful panorama. If you want to head even further up, you can follow the hiking trail to the Pfarralpe.

The way back then takes you with a constant view of the Alpsee deep below via the Hochreute estate (European Buddhist Centre), the Alpe Schönesreuth (refreshment stop, many animals, ideal for children) and the Alpsee promenade to Bühl, all the way back to the Alpsee Camping Site.

Alpsee Circular Hike

approx. 12 km | Difficulty level: easy

This tour will make your hiking holiday in the Allgäu special, as the Alpsee is the largest natural lake in the Allgäu and the church ensemble of Bühl is a European rarity. The two small churches in Bühl, one above the other, are also said to be very special power places.

This circular hike leads from our 5*Alpsee Camp Site via Trieblings, Ratholz, Rieder and Gschwend back to Bühl – with a view of the Immenstädter Horn and the Hindelang Mountains to the east.

On your active holiday in Bavaria, the beautifully laid out trail leads you to Trieblings, a small peninsula on the Alpsee. Heading west, the lake surroundings then turn into a reedy, varied moorland landscape and the Konstanzer Ach River is crossed again on a narrow wooden footbridge before you reach the B 308 and the large car park of the Alpsee Bergwelt. A comfortable chairlift leads from there to the starting point of Germany's longest summer toboggan run, the so-called Alpsee Coaster. In the large rope course that goes with it, you can test your head for height or your sense of balance when spending your hiking holidays in the Allgäu.

Following the signpost at the Alpsee Bergwelt, the circular trail takes you through the forest, and a little above the main road you reach a cast-iron cross at the foot of the wild Ratholzer Tobel. After crossing the meadow and a short climb, you are rewarded with a magnificent view of the entire Alpsee.

Passing the small wooden chapel of Gschwend, you will pass another highlight – the Gschwender waterfalls, with their three cascades right on the small road, which provide refreshment.

Following the signs to the circular hiking trail, the path now leads downhill directly to Bühl. Visit the two churches of Bühl as well as the Alpsee Haus and round off this wonderful hike in one of the many refreshment stops in Bühl.
